The Founders Haus, also known as the Historic Jaquess Residence, was built in 1870 in the Italianate style and was owned by Jonathan S. Jaquess who was the grandson of original Poseyville founder, Jonathan Jaquess, Jr.  One of the oldest residences to line any street of Poseyville, IN, the imposing 2.5 story house  is immediately recognizable with its wrought iron fence and freshly painted cedar siding. Inside the original black walnut carved front door you will find a winding staircase with a curved balustrade leading to the second floor. Directly to your right and left are double parlors, both with impressive fireplace mantels, one of brick and one of cast iron.   There are 4 spacious bedrooms upstairs to accommodate large family stays. 

In 2021, the Nix family purchased the property to help attract individuals to Poseyville by offering a historic and beautiful house for corporate meetings and events, celebrations such as wedding events, baby showers, & family events, and nightly stays for people who are traveling from out of town.   With a 5th generation family business that began with Charles Henry Nix opening a blacksmith shop in 1902, the Nix family has a long history in Poseyville. They are proud to be able to continue that history with The Founders Haus.
